Senior Project Manager

We’re looking for a Senior Project Manager with 5+ years of experience running complex, multi-team projects — ideally in K–12 educational publishing. You’ll be the steady hand guiding complex ideas into clear plans — keeping things organized, people connected, and projects moving smoothly. Most of all, you’ll bring good energy, clear communication, and a calm, can-do attitude to every step.

This is a contract position (30–40 hours per week) — perfect for someone who loves collaborating with smart, kind, and creative people in a flexible, fully remote setup.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Own the project journey

  • Take full ownership of projects from kickoff to final delivery — making sure everyone knows where we’re headed and how we’ll get there.

  • Lead kickoff meetings with clients and internal teams, setting clear goals, deliverables, and expectations right from the start.

  • Translate big ideas into actionable plans, with realistic timelines and milestones that keep things moving.

  • Keep an eye on the big picture while managing all the details that make projects run smoothly.

Keep things running smoothly

  • Connect the dots between departments — ensuring designers, editors, illustrators, and other team members have what they need to do their best work.

  • Bring structure and clarity when projects get complicated or directions feel fuzzy.

  • Keep everyone aligned through regular check-ins and transparent updates.

  • Track deadlines, milestones, and priorities in Wrike (or a similar project management tool) — and make it look easy.

Collaborate and problem-solve

  • Partner with department heads to plan staffing, manage workloads, and balance resources across projects.

  • Spot potential issues before they become roadblocks, and jump in to find creative, practical solutions.

  • Keep communication open and honest so teams and clients always know what’s happening and what’s next.

  • Build relationships that make collaboration feel natural and enjoyable, not forced.

Deliver great work

  • Manage client communication and feedback cycles with professionalism and warmth.

  • Make sure deliverables not only meet expectations but exceed them — in both quality and timing.

    • Close out each project thoughtfully, capturing insights and lessons learned to make the next one even better.

ABOUT YOU

You’ve spent 5+ years managing complex, multi-team projects — maybe in publishing, education, creative production, or a related field. You’re the kind of person who loves turning big, sometimes messy ideas into organized, achievable plans. You’re strategic but people-centered; structured but flexible; confident but collaborative.

You’ll thrive here if you:

  • Are a strong communicator who builds trust quickly.

  • Can juggle multiple moving pieces without breaking a sweat.

  • Find joy in bringing order to chaos and clarity to confusion.

  • Think ahead, problem-solve on the fly, and keep a cool head under pressure.

  • Care about both the work and the people doing it.

Enjoy working with a talented, supportive, and genuinely good-hearted team.
